The Learning Tower

As most of you know, I love to cook and it's very important to me that Kate learns to cook and hopefully enjoys it as much as I do. Every evening Kate would pull her step stool up to me while I was cooking dinner. She always says, "I help cook daddy's dinner." Anyway, I wanted to get her something safer to stand on and also something high enough so she can see what's going on. I discovered the Learning Tower and she loves it! Kate is even able to push it around the kitchen and climb in and out of it. It's like a whole new world for her! Also here is a picture of my prized possession...The Le Creuset dutch oven! I have wanted one of these for years! Seph got me a cookbook for Christmas that is specifically written for one pot meals! They are fabulous and super easy! He also got me a wok and an electric can opener for Christmas...hmmm do you think he likes my cooking?

Another "Mom of the Year" Moment

Kate's favorite movie right now is Snow White. As most of you know, the wicked queen turns herself into and old witch and gives poor Snow White the poisoned apple. The witch falls off a cliff to her death...such a nice movie. Anyway, Kate asked me what happened to the witch. I said she fell off the cliff and the witch died. Now fast forward to the next day.....

Kate is eating a gingerbread cookie. She sets it on the counter, but it falls to the floor and breaks into pieces. Kate says, "Oh no mommy! My cookie fell, my cookie died!"

Baby (Al Gore) it's Cold Outside

Burrrrr! I realize that I'm from the midwest and this cold snap should be a piece of cake for someone that grew up with lake effect snow and temps dipping below zero with crazy wind chills, but the last few days have just been brutal! I think I'm becoming a real Texan now! Not to mention the fact that I left my winter coat (an adorable and very warm puffer coat) in Indiana in December thinking my sister would just bring it with her when she came down for Christmas. Besides, I would be fine right? It's usually in the 50's and 60's this time of year. Well, I was wrong! My sister decided to stay in Indiana for Christmas and we are experiencing the worst cold snap in years! This global warming thing is really getting out of control! Al Gore can frost bite me! Stay warm my friends!

Missing her Tokyo Friends

Kate was just sitting in her chair reading an oldie but goodie...a book that our friend Melanie had made of the Tokyo play group. It seems just like yesterday, but the kids are growing up so fast (Kate even has a full head of hair now) and some with a new brother or sister!
