White Christmas

We had the first white Christmas in 80 years here in Fort Worth. Just the day before it was almost 80 degrees! It couldn't have been more perfect!

Quote of the Day

Kate decided it would be nice to get up at 5:30 this morning...

Me- "Kate why are you up so early?!!!" ( I went to the wine bar with my girlfriends last night so you can imagine how happy I was about the early wake up call)

Kate- " Mommy, I want to pay wif my toys and read books!"

LITTLE LADYBUG

What can I say...this was the most wonderful day! I have to say I was surprised just how much Kate liked her costume. She is starting to enjoy dress up more, but she hated the tutu just 3 weeks ago and now we can't get her to take it off! She had to practice "flying" in the front yard before we headed out for trick or treat. There are only 6 houses in our neighborhood so our intention was to hit those houses then go to one of the bigger neighborhoods. Well, it took 45 minutes to make it through our tiny neighborhood so we decided to call it quits and save the big trick or treating experience for next year. On a side note, she did not want to carry her treat bag until she discovered that people would put candy in it if she just knocked on their door! I just love this kid!!

OUR PUMPKIN AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH

We had a blast this morning at the pumpkin patch! It was a bit muddy and KJ's hair would not cooperate :) but I know she loved it! It was such a nice drive to the country side on the most beautiful Texas autumn day. Yet another reason to love the United States! Can't wait for Trick or Treat tonight!

Night Night

I have no idea how this child still sleeps comfortably in her crib but she still sleeps 13 hours every single night surrounded by her animals. If one of them is missing she will immediately let us know and won't go to sleep until they are all tucked in! I don't think she will ever climb out of her crib, but she is definitely going to outgrow it soon!

Goodbye to the Toddler Mullet

KJ was completely bald until last december when she started sprouting the all too adorable toddler mullet. It was getting out of control. I even considered just pulling it back into a ponytail or braiding the back of it and putting her in a Harley outfit for Halloween! Instead, we took her to Sweet and Sassy for a little pampering and her very first haircut. She even got glitter in her hair and a glitter star on her cheek.

BIRTHDAY GIRL

Kate Jensen is two! As you can see the ladybug cake won and I spent hours baking and decorating it. Just kidding! Thanks to THE CAKERY for making the adorable cake! Thanks to everyone that could make it to her party. She now understands that there is a surprise under all the paper and bows...just in time for Christmas! :)

Kate's 2 year check up

We switched pediatricians because my last one was a complete moron! I'm so glad we did because Dr. L was wonderful and so attentive even though Kate started screaming the moment she walked in the door (thanks to Dr. moron) Anyway, KJ is in the 95th percentile for both height and weight and should start slimming down now that she is on 2% milk. She got her flu shot and one other vaccine. Of course, she cried, but when the nurse was all finished and applying sesame street bandaids, Kate very politely said, "Thanks!" One side note...Dr L was shocked at how soft Kate's skin is after I told her that Kate has had a bath almost everyday of her life. As most of you know, I'm a huge advocate of a bath time routine EVERYDAY or at the very least every other day. If you pooped and peed all over yourself all day long, wouldn't you want a nice warm bath before bed?

Fun Run

Seph, Kate and I participated in a 1 mile fun run last Saturday evening. And when I say run, Kate ran the entire mile (in her little polka dot shoes) while Seph walked along side her to keep her from falling face first into the pavement. I pushed the overpriced jogging stroller with no child in it. We had such a great time and it was for a good cause too! I can't wait to do it again next year:)

23 little things about Kate

1. I love how she gives all of the parents a hug when they drop their kids off at school.

2. I love it when you ask her what she wants for breakfast and she says, "FRIES!"

3. She knows all of her colors even lavender.

4. She likes to help me clean by getting out the dust pan when she drops a few goldfish crackers.

5. She is a daddy's girl.

6. This won't surprise anyone...Her favorite books are all about going to sleep. Good night moon etc...

7. Kate loves bugs, but tries to kill them by stepping on them so she won't be working for PETA anytime soon.

8. She weighs 30 pounds and is 34 inches tall.

9. Kate is totally in love with Diego. He is Dora's cousin.

10. She loves to talk on the phone.

11. She has a toddler mullet and I can't decide if I should let it grow. I'm just happy that she has some hair!

12. When I wipe her nose she says, "bye bye snot!"

13. She gives Eskimo kisses! This is something she has been doing for as long as I can remember. Very sweet!

14. When Kate wants to know what you are doing she says, "what chuuu?"

15. Kate has a little freckle above her lip. She's our little Cindy Crawford. She also has a little freckle on her right butt cheek!

16. She says, "no please" instead of no thanks. Such a polite little girl.

17. She will not eat bread, not even grilled cheese!

18. Kate knows all of her senses. For example, if you ask her, "how do you see?" she points to her eyes. If you ask her, "how do you smell?" she sniffs a couple of times. This kid cracks me up!

19. Kate goes to bed around 7 and wakes up around 7. She still takes one 3 hour nap when she's not at school. Thank you Lord!

20. She likes to run around the house and flap her arms while saying, "I flying I flying!"

21. She calls her Grandma GeeGoo. I have no idea why.

22. She is still sleeping in her crib and has not attempted to crawl out yet. I hope I just didn't jinx myself!

23. Kate is 23 months old and will be 2 on October 9th. Where does the time go?

Quote of the day

I was watching "A Baby Story" this morning and as the dad was leaving for work, he told his big kids, "Have some fun today, take some chances, just be accountable."

Quote of the day

As Seph was walking out the door this morning Kate said, "bye bye daddy I love you!" Melts your heart! Of course, I dropped her off at school today and she ran down the hallway, walked into the room, put her bag away, and didn't even turn around to say goodbye. So independent! I miss her already and it's only been 18 minutes since I dropped her off:(

Our Tuesday Project

Kate and I saw hummingbirds in the backyard yesterday so we ran over to Ace Hardware, picked out a feeder, and set it up in the tree. Now we are just waiting for them to appear once again.

Determination and Etiquette

Park City

Seph had a meeting in Park City Utah over the holiday weekend and of course families were invited to join. What a beautiful place to spend the 4th! I can't wait to go back in the winter, rent a chalet up in the mountains, and cozy up next to a fire with a glass of wine. Seph and I do not ski (in fact he is not allowed to ski ever again after his first ski experience at Nagano...he almost killed himself) but we have totally fallen in love with this little ski town. Kate was an angel on the plane and she loved playing with all the other kids at the meeting. She even had her first "crush" on five year old Alex. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. God Bless America!

Bling Bling

Kate loves to wear my bracelets and necklaces all around the house and even out to lunch:) Well, after I found a few of my items in the toy box I knew it was time to get Kate her own bling. Here she is posing for her photo shoot...so serious!
